ABBI - Advanced Breast Biopsy Instrumentation

ABBI, the latest and most advanced technology for testing for breast cancer, has come to Northwest Arkansas and is available only in the Diagnostic Imaging Department at Mercy Health Center. Because an ABBI biopsy is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia, the time necessary for the procedure as well as the recovery time is decreased. An extremely precise procedure, the ABBI test uses X-rays to exactly pinpoint the area to be tested and minimizes the amount of healthy breast tissue removed.

Most women who undergo an ABBI test are able to leave the facility and resume their normal activities almost immediately following the test.
