Home Health Care

MHC Window

When a patient's condition or situation would be better served by receiving medical care in the home environment, the trained and certified health professionals who staff St. Mary's Home Health step in for today's highly-personalized compassionate answer to house calls.

Mrecy Home Health care professionals are available to perform the following services:

  • Skilled Nursing Care - A registered nurse or licensed practical nurse provides skilled nursing care. Health-related education is also provided for you and your family.
  • Bathing and other personal care services.
  • IV Therapy - Administration of intravenous drugs in your home.
  • Medical Social Work - Social workers provide counseling, financial assistance and community resource information.
  • Maternal and Child Care - Care for new mothers and their babies.
  • Physical Therapy - Therapists restore muscle and joint function and offer home exercise instruction.
  • Occupational Therapy - Therapists offer assistance for independence in activities for daily living.
  • Speech Therapy - Therapists assist in restoring communication skills.
  • Care for the terminally ill - Patients and their families receive emotional and physical care.

Home Health services traditionally focus on older patients, but at Mercy, the hospital's Home Health program also cares for many young patients, as well.

How Home Health Works

Anyone may refer a patient for home health care by calling (479) 936-2978. Their physician will be contacted to provide orders for care. A registered nurse will make an initial assessment visit to establish the plan for intermittent care. A 24-hour, on-call service makes a registered nurse available by phone at all times for special needs.

Paying for Home Health

The cost of physician-ordered care is often covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance. Mercy Home Health staff can determine if your care needs are covered and will complete all necessary paperwork.

Contact us at (479) 936-2978 for e-mail us at Michelle.Bass@Mercy.net for more information about Mercy Home Health services.
